Over 200 attendees from commercial enterprises, government, defense, venture capital and academia attended the first Quantum.Tech APAC conference, held 4-5 April 2023 in Singapore. NQCH team members were among them as audience and speakers. Some of our work was also exhibited at the booth of Singapore’s Quantum Engineering Programme, which supports the Hub and was a partner for this industry-focused summit.
The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) reviews the mission of the National Supercomputing Centre Singapore (NSCC) in its research magazine – highlighting the centre’s role as a partner in NQCH towards ‘breaking ground for the quantum era’. NSCC supercomputing power is already being used to simulate quantum computations.
Quantum computing had a strong presence at the Supercomputing Asia 2023 event held 27 February – 2 March in Singapore. Members of the NQCH team spoke at the conference, including our lead PI Jose Ignacio Latorre as a keynote speaker on “Singapore into Quantum”. Conference sponsors included quantum computing companies PASQAL and IQM.
Under the MoU signed by the National Quantum Office (NQO) of Singapore, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, IQM Quantum Computers, and CSC – IT Center for Science (Finland), the parties’ aims include accelerating development of quantum technology hardware components and collaborating in quantum-accelerated high-performance computing.
Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies Heng Swee Keat announced the National Quantum Computing Hub (NQCH) in his opening address at the Asia Tech x Singapore Summit on 31 May 2022 . This marked the debut of NQCH as a joint initiative by the Centre for Quantum Technologies, A*STAR’s Institute of High Performance Computing and the National Supercomputing Centre Singapore.
